Impressions: A Mobile Deepfake App

It’s been a couple of times we mentioned about the Deepfake technology and the opportunities it provides. We just bumped into a pretty entertaining app that allows its users to acquire faces of certain celebrities by using Deepfake technology, and it’s called Impressions.

Founded as a venture in San Francisco, Impressions will be launched for iOS platform usage as of today. Nevertheless, the app will be available for the US, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and United Kingdom for the time being.

With its pretty easy usage, Impressions allows you to shoot 20-second selfie-videos. After shooting the video, you then must pick one of the celebrity faces included in the app. As you complete these two processes, Impressions runs the necessary processes through the cloud and your face becomes the face of the celebrity you picked within a couple of minutes.

Note that none of the users’ facial data is saved in a database, according to the information provided by Impressions. Impressions is a paid application as well. Offering 3 videos of 10 seconds, and 1 video weekly at first, the application demands a fee from the users who desire to make more videos.

Stating that they appreciate the concerns on Deepfake technology, Impressions CEO Murat Deligöz said that the technology could be used for entertainment purposes. Recently the app includes over 10 celebrity faces, and new celebrities will be added every week.

Keep in mind that there are significant celebrities such as Arnold SchwarzeneggerBrad PittFreddie Mercury and Emilia Clarke included in the application. You can download the app for iOS by clicking here.
